Set COD rules

Updated 17 Aug 2026

Cash on delivery drives orders in India, but it also carries the highest return-to-origin risk. COD rules let you offer it selectively rather than everywhere.

Rules you can set

  • Order value. Allow COD only below a cap, since high-value COD orders bounce more often.
  • Pincode. Turn COD off for pincodes with a poor delivery record.
  • Extra fee. Add a small COD handling charge to nudge buyers towards prepaid.

RTO risk scoring

MiniTaka scores each COD order for return risk as it comes in, using signals like the pincode's history and the order value. A high-risk order can be flagged for a confirmation call before you ship it.

Do not switch COD off entirely to avoid returns. For many Indian buyers it is the only way they will place a first order. Tighten the rules instead of removing the option.
