Verify your WhatsApp number

Selling on WhatsApp uses the WhatsApp Business API, which needs a verified business number. This is different from the WhatsApp Business app on your phone, and a number can only be on one at a time.

Before you start

• Use a number that is not currently active on the WhatsApp app. If it is, remove it from the app first.
• Have your business name and a Facebook Business Manager account ready, since Meta runs the verification.

Steps

• Open Channels, then WhatsApp and start verification.
• Enter the number and receive the one-time code by SMS or call.
• Complete Meta's business verification if prompted. Meta reviews this and can take a day or two.

Once a number is on the Business API, you cannot use it in the ordinary WhatsApp app on your phone. Pick a number you are happy to dedicate to the business.
